Press Release: July 21, 2006
PHOENIX, AZ: GPS Fleet Management, a leading provider of GPS-based fleet management and consulting services, announced they assisted the Phoenix Police Department recover a stolen vehicle that was equipped with one of their solutions. Thanks to a GPS tracking device, thieves who stole a truck broadcast their location, which lead the police right to them.
On June 19, 2006, a client notified GPS Fleet Management that one of their vehicles equipped with one of their GPS Fleet Management solutions had been stolen from their yard AND was recovered within 90 minutes. What the thieves did not that that vehicle was equipped with a GPS fleet tracking system that notified the user via a text message if any of their trucks were moved outside normal business hours. The thieves stole the truck at 5:30 AM and the owner was notified via a text message that his truck was on the move. They called police and gave them the trucks exact location and by 7:00 AM police found the stolen truck, PLUS 2 other stolen trucks from other companies, PLUS 2 stolen construction trailers, PLUS thousands of dollars of stolen tools AND captured five bad guys red-handed!
"If the GPS tracking device wasn't in the truck, the theft and the truck wouldn't have been found until it was too late!" the customer stated. "GPS notified us, found the location of the truck, pinpointed it and made the recovery possible."
President of GPS Fleet Management, Myron Hammes stated, “Because the GPS fleet tracking solution we installed allows the user to create custom alerts for unauthorized vehicle activity, the client was able to closely monitor the location and activities of the their vehicle. GPS tracking is rapidly becoming an indispensable business tool that enables improved customer service, reduced operating cost, and lower risk. This event further validates the effectiveness of our technology in protecting our clients’ fleets."
